Caring Cupboard

Caring Cupboard

The Caring Cupboard is a food pantry that primarily serves people residing in the Palmyra and Annville-Cleona school districts.   Operating under the management of Palmyra Area Cooperating Churches, the Caring Cupboard is funded by a very generous community of churches, businesses, organizations and individuals. We have many regular contributors who support us with monthly donations of both cash and food.

The Caring Cupboard started right here at Palmyra Church of the Brethren. The Sunday School teachers asked the children of their class, “If someone who was hungry came to the church, what would Jesus want us to do?” The children responded, “Jesus would want us to feed them.” This realization led to a food drive and became an involvement of the entire congregation. The Sunday School class soon resembled a pantry with cabinets of food as well as refrigerators. The word got out that the Palmyra Church of the Brethren was the place to go if you were hungry and needed food. The Caring Cupboard soon outgrew the church’s facility and joined forces with the Palmyra Area Cooperating Churches (PACC) who currently manages the food pantry. Click here for more history.
