Workcamps are excellent opportunities to be the hands and feet of Christ in our world.
Each year the Church of the Brethren offers multiple workcamp opportunities for people of all ages. Each summer, our Youth take advantage of those opportunities! In the past few years, our youth have traveled to places such as South Dakota, Illinois, Virginia, Washington D.C., and St. Croix to serve in communities where needs are not being met. Work often involves gardening, painting, cleaning, and helping in food pantries and homeless shelters. Through these experiences, our Youth are able to connect with Youth from many other congregations across the denomination to learn, to serve and to grow in their faith.
Every four years, we choose to participate in a workcamp as a youth group through Brethren Disaster Ministries. These workcamps offer us the opportunity to grow as a group and to serve in communities that need immediate attention. Serving through Brethren Disaster Ministries often involves construction, painting, repairing and working on homes affected by natural disasters such as floods and tornados.
Youth and adults who participate in workcamps consistently return having had wonderful and unforgettable experiences, telling incredible stories of faith, and celebrating new and renewed friendships.
