Music Ministries

The
purpose of our music ministry at Palmyra Church of the Brethren is to
support the corporate worship of our congregation, to encourage and
provide opportunities in ministry to those who possess musical and creative
abilities, and to serve as a vehicle of outreach to the community.
Cherub
Choir: introduces our youngest voices to proper use of the
voice and prepares them to offer music ministry in worship each month.
The choir is directed by an expert in early childhood music education.
Carol
Choir and Youth Choirs: for middle school and high school aged
youth respectively, rehearse separately but often sing together once
a month during the traditional worship service. They are directed by
a public school music educator specializing in youth voices.
Chancel
Choir: is comprised of adult singers who support corporate
worship in the traditional service on most Sunday mornings. Their director
has a choral music degree from Shenandoah Conservatory.
Praise
Teams and Band: are made up of singers and instrumentalists
with knowledge of the contemporary praise music genre. These intergenerational
ensembles support the FaithQuest contemporary worship service.
English
Handbell Program: consists of four graded-choirs beginning
with the Genesis Ringers, third through fifth graders, who receive their
introduction to music reading and handbell technique through the use
of choir chimes utilize middle school and high school aged youth respectively.
The Canticle Bell Choir: is made up of adults who have performed
in several states and who have included weddings and funerals in their
performance schedule. The three directors of these choirs have over
40 years handbell and Kodaly experience among them.
