Our Purpose Faith and Mission

The church is the body through which Christ works for the redemption
of individuals and to make Christian principles operative in all human
and social relationships. It is the school of Christ-like character,
the Christian fellowship with Christ at the center, and the Christian
community of believers consecrated to Christ-like living.
The work of the kingdom succeeds or fails depending upon the degree
of effectiveness with which the local church executes its task. This
demands that church leaders be alert to the needs of people, quick to
change that which needs changing, and creative in approach to each situation.
Effective ministry is more likely to happen when church leaders and
members are aware of and familiar with the congregation's "reason for
being." Therefore, this church as part of the Body of Christ, seeks
to create a deeper awareness of the congregation's basic purpose, and
seeks in all its programs and relationships to develop an understanding
of the faith we affirm, the ministries provided by the church, and the
responsibilities of membership.
Our Purposes
To encourage persons to commit their
lives to Jesus Christ. Nurture our membership, seeking ever to bring
them to maturity in Christ
To serve as God's instrument
in meeting the spiritual and physical needs of this fellowship, this
community, and of the world
Our Faith and Practice
Is founded on the belief
of one God who is a personal Father and who in love creates, sustains,
and orders all
Confesses Jesus Christ as the Son of
God, Savior of the world, by whose sacrificial death and resurrection
we have the promise of eternal life
Believes that the Holy Spirit is at work
within the believer, giving guidance, comfort, instruction, and uniting
believers with the Lord and one another
Accepts the Bible as the inspired Word
of God and maintains the New Testament as the standard of faith and
practice through which God speaks and continues to accomplish His redemptive
purpose
Follows the example of
the New Testament in administering immersion baptism for believers;
observing the love feast and communion; and anointing of persons who
are sick or have special spiritual needs
Strives in all avenues
of daily living to follow the teachings of Christ in such areas as sanctity
of human life, forgiveness and reconciliation (Matthew 18), non-resistance,
