SPECIAL CONGREGATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING
REGARDING THE FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT TASK TEAM PROPOSAL
PALMYRA CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN
SUNDAY, MARCH 25, 2007 – 4:00 PM

Call to Order: Moderator Bob Rhine called the meeting to order and led the congregation in a brief devotional period.

Agenda – Bob Rhine stated the reason for the meeting and read two items that were recommended by the Church Board of Administration at its most recent meeting, Tuesday evening, March 20. The Board recommended that the vote on land acquisition must be approved by a 2/3 majority.
MOTION: I move that the Congregational Council accept the Board’s recommendation.
Moved – Tom Smith Second – Bill Forney Passed with one person in opposition

Also, the Board accepted the Facilities Development Task Team report that recommended the Palmyra Church of the Brethren proceed with the purchase of the 13.49 acre plot of land in South Londonderry Township. This report and recommendation was passed and is being brought to Congregational Council with its unanimous approval.
MOTION: I move the Congregational Council accept the Facilities Development Task Team’s report and the Board of Administration’s recommendation that the Palmyra Church of the Brethren purchase the 13.49 acre property in South Londonderry Township.

Before the motion was voted on, Dale Gingrich of the Facilities Development Task Team reviewed a slide presentation of the South Londonderry Township property description, points of interest, access, land features/issues, environmental findings, and economics/costs involved. Geology questions were fielded by Rane Wilson who worked with Marshall Miller & Associates in the property studies.

Terry Baker called for the question. Bob Rhine read the motion again and YES/NO ballots were distributed by the Leadership Calling Team for voting. The Team counted the ballots with the following results:
91 ballots were counted resulting in a 2/3 majority vote of 70 YES, with 21 NO

Rev. Martha Shaak dismissed the meeting with prayer at 5:00 pm.
